My interest in massage started in the 1980’s when I
began to study the practice of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu. This system
of martial art stresses restoration as much as combat. Through
the course of my training I studied Okazaki Long Life Massage,
a system developed by Professor Henry Seishiro Okazaki. The
Okazaki system is a very deep and intense massage that is
meant to promote overall good health. This interest lead me
to several junior college courses in Swedish massage, sports
massage and other related areas.
During 2002-2003 I trained at Bodymechanics School of Myotherapy and Massage, graduating with a 1000-hour diploma, and achieved credentials as a nationally certified Licensed Massage Practitioner. I opened my massage business, WhiteSage Myotherapy and Massage, in March 2003. My practice is accepting new clients, and is currently located in Tumwater at Renae’s not just a Salon.
In an on-going effort to provide the best possible care for those seeking my help, I continue to study and incorporate advanced massage techniques into my treatment work. This year I have studied British Sports Therapy Massage with Stuart Taws. This therapy uses Pin-and-Stretch techniques to align muscle fibers and relieve pain. Additionally in 2008 I have studied Myoskeletal Alignment with Erik Dalton, PhD, as well as Lymphatic Drainage for treating lymphedema, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation techniques for improving range of motion.
I am currently studying for certification in Orthopedic Massage with James Waslaski, LMP. Orthopedic massage is a multi-disciplinary approach to body work, combining the latest research on how muscles work together with the best and most effective way to correct muscle imbalances. Some of the best athletes in the world take advantage of this work.
